Doubt

It seems to me what is called for is an exquisite balance between two conflicting needs: the most skeptical scrutiny of all hypotheses that are served up to us and at the same time a great openness to new ideas. If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you. On the other hand, if you are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish useful ideas from the worthless ones. "All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind." -Aristotle

If intellect is just the knowing of life and wisdom is the apllication of this knowledge to life, then can we have wisdom without intellegence? Intellgence without wisdom?
I've known poorly educated wise men. I've also known very well educated men with no wisdom at all. I believe to a degree its all about how you apply what you know. Be it very small amount of knowledge or a very large amount. Wisdom is the deeper take on life the search for what is and what is not. Without expirience you will gain little wisdom. Intelligence is the theory, the ability to grasp or develop concepts in your head, whether they work, however, you can only find out through experience, and what follows is wisdom.

"It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt." -my step dad (wise man)

All my life since I was about six years old my father would always say "perception is reality". This got me to thinking, is how you are percieved really reality? Who's reality?
I think that we all live within our own realities, so who you believe yourself to be is your own reality, but who others think you are is part of their reality. I think too often people care to deeply about the reality of others, and how others perceive them. Which poses the question...By applying the perception of others to your own reality, is perception then reality?

Some live in their own reality, while others feed off the reality of the people around them.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."

Can anyone tell me why people who are athiest seem to all have the same opinion about people who have religion. I find that almost all athiests think that we who have faith in god only have such faith as a security blanket to fill the emtiness we feel about death.

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen."

I believe that sometimes people are intimidated by life and so they sit around all day talking and philosophizing about it instead of going out and living it. I know that this train of thought is a little hypocritical on my part, seeing as though right now i'm sitting at my computer writing about it. Although I believe some people were born to think and ask questions about life and others were meant to live and discover life. And of course the exceptions who are destined for both.
"A person starts to live when he can live outside himself." -Einstein

Life

What is the meaning of life? A question that is asked in society everyday. I have come to realize that the questions which simply cannot be answered are the ones that we spend most of our time contemplating. We cannot and will not except the defeat of an un answered question...so i pose this question: Can the answer be that there is no definite answer at all? Infact can't we answer all purposful and non purposful questions with "the answer is different for everyone".
For me who you are as a person gives life its meaning. The expiriences that we have and share with others all ad up to who we turn out to be. It could also be said that who we turn out to be can never be defined until the moment of death, becuase all expiriences that we've had with which make us who we are only then stop. There is no set meaning, rather a continuous thread of little peaces of meaning that come together to form a human being.

How's it going?

Hey so I just started this blog. I hope to get alot of followers. I just want to take it easy and discuss somethings we are all wondering about when it comes to life in general. Nothing is too deep to talk about so i'm really interested in hearing some different perspectives.
